The day begins with the American Legion Post 403 leading memorial services in the serene setting of local cemeteries, schedule listed below. Veterans and community members alike gather to pay their respects, honor the fallen, and observe the poignant Legion presentations, offering a powerful tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Families come together for community picnics and barbecues, with the scent of bratwurst and burgers wafting through the air. Local parks and lakesides buzz with activity as children play and neighbors share stories, celebrating the unofficial start of summer.

In Burnett County, Memorial Day is not just a holiday but a day of unity and remembrance. From the dignified ceremonies led by the American Legion to the joyous gatherings of friends and family, the day encapsulates the community’s deep respect for its heroes and its love for the simple pleasures of life in this beautiful part of Wisconsin.

To mark the occasion, all Veteran’s and their spouse/partner are invited to a completely FREE meal and soft drink at the Wild Water Bar & Grill – home of American Legion Post 403, on Sunday Mar 26thfrom 11am to 4pm (this will also be honored on Saturday Mar 25th at same times for those unable to make Sunday). 7516 Main St, Danbury, WI 54830
